Saturday August 2, Day 2 of Lollapalooza:
12:40 pm- Does It Offend You, Yeah? are trashin’ it up the Bud Light stage with their ridiculous guitar snaps. They could totally kick Bloc Party’s ass. Dan announces that Morgan just threw up.
1:25 pm- “We Are Rockstars”, the DIOY,Y? club hit and all around ridiculous guitar riff comes on- crowd erupts. Head toward the Citi stage to watch the Foals at 2:15 pm.
Does It Offend You Yeah - We Are Rockstars
2:15 pm- The Foals play with unbounded energy. I was surprised at their intensity- great album, great show, one of the best all weekend.
3:07 pm- Meet up with Joel and Richard of Ultra8201, exchange ‘who are you gonna see next schedules’, what? you’re not gonna watch the Toadies? Guess the changed their minds.
3:27 pm- The MGMT crowd was huge, probably more than any other act all weekend at that stage and you couldn’t really hear it too well, sounded more like a Booka Shade/MGMT mashup.
MGMT - Electric Feel (Justice Remix)
5:10 pm- back to the Citi Stage for the Spank Rock set. Amanda Blank joined him for a majority of the set, playing new songs off her first full length on Downtown which will drop soon hopefully (and be all over RCRD LBL for free). Hmm.. Isn’t she dating J2K? Her and Spank are doing some nasty shit on stage.
5:40 pm- More famous friends- Plastic Little joins the party at the Spank Rock show, I need cooler friends.
Santogold - I’m A Lady (Diplo mix ft Amanda Blank)
Plastic Little - Get Close (King Honey Remix)
6:10 pm- While heading towards the AT&T stage for Lupe Fiasco, caught a song from Jamie Lidell. Damn, maybe Joel was right about this cat.
6:30 pm-Lupe Fiasco came out on stage like a white silk stick of dynamite and proceeded to get the crowd moving quickly with “Kick Push” early in the set. Personal favorite: “Daydreamin’”.
Lupe Fiasco featuring Jill Scott -Daydreamin’
7:48 pm- Saw just enough of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings to see her do that crazy rain dance part of the set. Begin moving towards the AT&T stage to see Rage Against the Machine, caught the last few songs of The Toadies.
8:30 pm- I got chills when I saw the massive red star appear on the screen behind the main stage and Rage Against the Machine played the opening bars of “Testify”. And in less than ten minutes, about 2,000 people in the crowd moved 3 feet forward and the barriers up front were ‘compromised’ to say the least. As bouncers are having trouble keeping the crowd back from the stage- the entire crowd is in full motion- not one still body. Livest show I’ve ever seen.
Most surreal moment: Zack de la Rocha asking everyone “to move 5 or 6 steps back, we don’t want anyone to get hurt.” Moments later- “This next one’s called Bullet in the Head.”

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. That’s definitely the great thing about festivals though.

Watching the Rage video brought back memories of Coachella and Rock the Bells last year. The anticipation in the crowd before they came on was just ridiculous, I have to agree with you that this was the livest show ive ever seen as well… and the sweatiest, gross.
