Who knew Seattle had flow? Blue Scholars have been building the hip hop scene in Seattle for years now since the release of their EPs Blue Scholars, Bayani, Joe Metro and the April ‘08 release of Butter & Gun$. Besides selling out shows five nights in a row, to crowds of 800+ in their hometown of Seattle, Geologic and Sabzi will be joining Hieroglyphics on the Freshly Dipped Tour, which hits Austin this Saturday at Emo’s.
I hate to put them into the genre of conscious rap, but it is obviously intelligent, more socially aware, and just touches on some deeper issues than some of the hip hop out there today. But with that, they still have the ability to lay down a funky track, just listen:
