The Austin Music Foundation’s bi-monthly mixer is tomorrow night at Union Park. The Austin Music Foundation have been doing great things for the music community in Austin since 2002, from small educational sessions with industry pros, music industry boot camps, to holding monthly mixers and giving folks an opportunity to network. They have also committed time to increasing awareness of the SIMS Foundation and the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, two organizations that provide health care, counseling services, and all types of other support for Austin musicians. AMF has also shown major support and involvement in the Live Music Task Force- a local committee addressing problems and news that may affect Austin’s musicians and music community.

You never know who you will meet at one of these- Ian Varley, one of the main organizers is part of Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, who played some recent shows with Mates of State, and are starting a tour with What Made Milwaukee Famous at the end of July. Union Park will be offering happy hour specials until 8:00 pm with $1 off all beers and well drinks, Mojitos for $3, the mixer runs from 6:30- 8:30pm.
